With some extra time off in December, I decided to visit somewhere new to me. Joshua Tree National Park in the high country to the north of Palm Springs, California. An adjacent military base at Twenty-nine Palms creates a surprising volume of traffic on the highway approaches in what seems like the middle of nowhere. Once inside the park, however, it is much more serene. I arrived in the late afternoon and stayed overnight. Thus some photos were taken in late afternoon light. Other photos are from the next morning.
